We are looking for someone to join and take clinical leadership of our highly successful and positively regarded Adult Acute team for 1 year fixed term to cover maternity leave.

Alongside carrying a clinical caseload and contributing to activity in this fast paced setting, the successful candidate will provide day to day co-ordination of the adult acute service, line management, supervision, training and mentoring of team members and lead on service evaluation and development projects.

The ideal candidate will have broad and specialist experience in adult acquired disorders, will be a highly skilled dysphagia clinician able to undertake instrumental swallowing assessments in both Videofluoroscopy, Fibre-optic Endoscopic Evaluations of Swallow (FEES) and highly developed skills in the assessment and management of Tracheostomy patients, taking a lead on weaning alongside a well-established Tracheostomy MDT team. Supported by the Professional Head of SLT, you will work alongside Senior Specialists in Acute Paediatrics, ENT / Head & Neck Oncology, Adult Rehabilitation, Adult Acute team members and MDT colleagues to ensure everyone referred to our service accesses the most effective and efficient care possible, maximising use of allocated resources and identifying the potential for service development aligned to Trust priorities.

The Adult Acute service reaches across the hospital and Divisional structure covering critical care, surgery, neurosciences and medicine, including DME, gastroenterology and respiratory medicine. As well as acute ward based care, the team takes a lead on service representation at the Feeding Issues MDT, Nutrition Steering Group, co-ordination of the Videofluoroscopy Clinic and input to the MND clinic.   

Please note:- Internal applicants on permanent contracts can only apply for this post as a secondment and must have the approval of your current line manager before applying.

This post is subject to a satisfactory DBS clearance and as a result, you will be required to pay the associated fee of £47.50. This fee will be deducted from your second month’s salary.
